A poetic essay film guided by Dr. Josh A. Baker’s cultural analysis of Queerness in the South, informed by their personal experiences and academic research. The film examines what it means to exist between revolutions in Alabama, a place marked by cycles of oppression and resistance, waiting for its collapse. Set during Homecoming Week at Alabama A&M, where time dissolves, and people carve out meaning together while challenging imposed narratives of belonging, memory, and self-determination. Moving non-linearly through memory, history, and lived experience, Searching 4 Saturn asks: How do Black queer Southerners continue to imagine themselves into the future while carrying the weight of the past?
