The Times of Kollywood is a coming-of-age comedy-drama and a love letter to Tamil cinema. The story follows 17-year-old Madhavan Gurusamy, an aspiring filmmaker and passionate Kollywood cinephile, who desperately wants his disciplined classmate Bala Murugan to experience the excitement of a first-day-first-show (FDFS) celebration for Vikram. When Madhavan promises Bala’s strict family that they can trust his choice of film, an innocent mistake involving a wrongly downloaded file leads to an embarrassing disaster. Determined to make things right, Madhavan earns back their trust and eventually brings Bala to the theatre. Through friendship, humour and youthful mistakes, the film celebrates the emotional connection between audiences and cinema, reminding us that Kollywood is more than stars, songs and mass moments. It is about memories, relationships and the people who make cinema meaningful.
